| Event Description |
Another historic outdoor space hosts the yearly Jazz’SAlive in Travis Park. The free weekend festival, takes place Sept. 18-19, brings together national recording artists as well as regional and local favorites, and is kicked off by Friday night’s Starlight Salute to Jazz’SAlive Gala, held at the adjacent St. Anthony Hotel. The hotel is also the scene of a Champagne Brunch on Sunday, and free After Dark Jam Sessions in its famed Peacock Alley on Saturday and Sunday nights.
Jazz’SAlive is presented by the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Parks Foundation. Two stages attract crowds that include jazz buffs and families with kids. There are children’s activities from noon to 6 p.m. both days. Bring a blanket, lend an ear, have a blast. |

| Event Description |
San Antonio’s International Accordion Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2010, but its roots go back almost two centuries. From its beginnings in Germany in the 1820s, the squeeze box spread quickly to San Antonio, South Texas and Northern Mexico.
That it also made its way around the world is clear in the range of countries that have participated in past festivals. Each year, musicians from Argentina to Scotland and Bulgaria to Taiwan appear in the event at La Villita Historic Arts Village. The historic outdoor setting will be home to workshops and concerts, most of them free, on three stages. There will be numerous food, beverage and merchandise booths. Spontaneous dancing is bound to erupt everywhere.
